So sad to read this news.
I did my nurse training with Helen, we shared a house in Holloway then West Hampstead during that time.
Helen was a lovely girl then and I am sure stayed the same though we lost touch a little.
I am happy to have known Helen, and glad she followed her passion for music which was clear even when we were in the old nurses home in Grays Inn Road. There was a dusty old piano in a seldom used sitting room but I used to love listening to Helen playing it, all the while telling me she couldn’t really play very well (sounded good to me)!
I have so enjoyed ‘reconnecting’ with Helen through her blog and send you my thoughts and prayers.
    Ann

    Dear Mark and John,
I feel privileged to have know Helen. She dealt with her illness so graciously and courageously. It was always a pleasure to be in her company at Cobwebs rehearsals and events.
If I were ever in a similar situation, I would hope to have a fraction of her determination and courage.
You are both in my thoughts and prayers.

    Mark and John,

So sorry to hear about Helen. I played violin with her in the Northumberland Orchestral Society. She was one of the first people I sat next to when I joined and loved being her desk partner. She encouraged me to attend a Cobwebs day where we performed the Mozart Clarinet Concerto in Hall One at the Sage. When I found out that me and Helen were sharing a desk in first violins and sitting right on the edge of the stage, close to the audience, Helen gave me the courage to get out there and play! Her strength and determination throughout her illness has been amazing. A very inspirational lady, with such passion and love for everything she did. I’m truly honoured to have had time with her in my life.

    Love Ruth
